Saving Winslow by Sharon Creech

Sharon Creech's newest title, Saving Winslow, is set to release in early September and is the perfect choice for third grade readers who often find themselves ready to move on from series like Magic Tree House but are not ready for more complex ones like those by authors like Stuart Gibbs, Robert Beatty or Rick Riordan.  This is the delightful story of a boy named Louie and his determined efforts to save a sickly, newborn donkey he calls Winslow.  The bond that develops between the two is reminiscent of Fern's love for Wilbur and will appeal to kids who love animal stories with a bit of humor and spunk thrown into the mix.  A great family-friendly read aloud that will find its place in every classroom library!
