The Littlest Bigfoot by Jennifer Weiner

Alice is a large twelve year old with an abundance of unruly hair who is attending her eighth school, having been mocked and bullied at the other seven.  Millie is a small Bigfoot whose clan lives a hidden life in the woods by Alice's school.  When Alice rescues Millie from drowning in the nearby Lake, she discovers that this furry creature is very interested in the "No-Furs", i.e. humans, that her tribe believes must be avoided at all cost.  When Jeremy, an obsessed Bigfoot hunter, discovers the tribe, the friendship of these two outcasts will be put to the test.  A tender story for all readers 10+ who have ever yearned to be accepted.
