Unplugged

Jeff Barnov, the son of the world’s most famous tech billionaire, is the most spoiled kid in Silicon Valley. He is always getting into trouble and his father finally decides to take drastic measures. He sends Jeff to a place in the middle of the Arkansas wilderness called the Oasis. This retreat, with no meat, no pets and no screens of any type is meant to help Jeff get his act together. Forced to participate in wholesome activities with the other kids who he has absolutely no interest in hanging out with, Jeff finds ways to wreak havoc at the camp. When he discovers a strange lizard, however, he decides to hide it and keep it as a pet. When he entices a few of the other kids to help him take care of it, Jett begins to make some friends. The group begins to notice that several of the adults in charge of the retreat are acting strangely and suspect that the Oasis may not be the back-to-nature camp it advertises. Why is the director making secret trips to a nearby hidden mansion and what role does their lizard play in the mystery? A hilarious middle grade novel about a group of kids forced to “unplug” at a camp where they find intrigue, adventure, and a whole lot of chaos.
