Thirteen year old Annabelle struggles in school, no matter how hard she tries. Despite tutoring and extra study sessions, she remains a C student at the rigorous private school she attends. In the pool, however, she excels. As the confident and focused star of the middle school swim team, Annabelle is relieved that seventh grade is behind her and looks forward to hanging out with her friends Jeremy and Mia at the pool. When she is unexpectedly offered the opportunity to join the high school swim team for the summer, everything changes. Suddenly she’s got new friends and she attracts the attention of a sophomore boy on the team. Annabelle is determined to fit in with this new team and do anything it takes to help them make it to the Labor Day Invitational meet. Out of the pool, however, things are not going as well. Annabelle has not been committed to her summer tutoring and her relationships with Jeremy and Mia are strained as well. But after a prank goes wrong and Annabelle finds herself on the verge of losing a place on the team, can she define who she is without the one thing she’s really good at?
